Hissing in Your Ears?

Many of the symptoms associated with a hissing in the ears are thought to be a piercing sound for instance whistling or buzzing. If you’re experiencing a prolonged high-pitched hissing sound in your ears, there is a high chance that you might be suffering from Tinnitus. For some people, the signs and symptoms of tinnitus can be a low-pitch noise, such as a humming, murmuring, rumbling or deep drone. Some people with ringing in the ears experience sound hallucinations, where they hear songs in their head over and over again. Hissing in the ears can develop from:

  • Ear infections – tinnitus can develop as the result of an inflammation in the ear
  •  High blood pressure – certain factors here increase blood pressure
  •  Earwax – Lots of earwax can result in hearing loss and irritation
  •  Head or Neck injury – A head injury can affect the inner ear and cause tinnitus sometimes just in one ear

Exposure to loud noises

People who are exposed to repetitive loud noises, for example those working with chain saws or other heavy equipment, can suffer from what is called ‘noise induced hearing loss’. If you’ve been told you have any of the symptoms below or think that you have tinnitus as a result of your working background, speak to our tinnitus compensation team today to find out if you qualify to make a claim for compensation. You can also begin a claim online by filling out a tinnitus claim form and we will arrange for a solicitor to call you back.
